Places to Visit | Shoreditch

Image taken from lovingdalston.co.uk/

If you read my last post you would know that a recently traveled down to London for a short break away and my sisters birthday. Whilst I was visiting, it was recommended to me to take a trip down to Shoreditch and I’m glad I did.Once I arrived, I met my friend at the station and firstly we took a walk around Spitalfields market. Most of the stalls were closed as it was a bank holiday but we took a stroll around the ones that were and they have some really unique handmade jewellery which I fell in love with.

After our walk we decided to grab something to eat at The Diner, a fan of American style food? I really recommend you eat there if you are in the area.  Pre-warning the portion sides are quite big so beware! We then decided to walk off our food and head down to Brick Lane; this is where most of the ‘vintage style’ shops and street food is located.  Whilst I was there, I picked up a few cheeky bargains from the sale at Beyond Retro (I would have brought most of the shop if I could).

Once we were all shopped out, we took a walk back to the station and had a quick peak into Boxpark, this is a pop up mall located in the centre of Shoreditch. It’s made up of loads of different containers at the bottom full of independent shops and upstairs there are loads of places to eat and drink. Unfortunately, we were both extremely tired from the day we didn't stay and have a drink  I had such an amazing time whilst in Shoreditch, I loved the graphic art around the area and would definitely love to visit there again. I could imagine it being a great place to hang out when the weather is nice and sunny.

Kate Moss @ Topshop

Image taken from The Guardian.com

So the infamous Kate Moss has launched her latest collection at Topshop. Now i've had a quick look round the collection and I honestly think Kate Moss has produced better collections in the past. I do however love the bohemian/festival style that is present though out the collection. As you can imagine most of the products online are pretty much sold out and most of the things I like are way out of my price range unfortunately :( However, I thought I would share with you my top three favourites from the new collection in case you hadn't seen the collection yet.

What do you think of the new Kate Moss collection?

I haven't done a week in photos for a long time here on my blog so I thought it would be nice to share with you all what I've been up to over the past two weeks. I traveled down to London over the Easter weekend for my sisters birthday. Whilst in London, I decided to take a trip to Shoreditch and central London in search for some things for my holiday which was a nice change from shopping in Birmingham or online. Luckily, I found a few bargain buys whilst on my search including a few vintage pieces from Beyond Retro. (blog post on my Shoreditch experience will be posted soon)

Once I was back in Birmingham, it was time for me to pick up my final printed dissertation and business plan for my course. Such an exciting/ nerve-racking time but I was really happy with the outcome once we picked it up from the printers. Me and my best friend then decided to celebrate finally printing and completing our dissertations with cocktails at The lost and Found.

How was your bank holiday weekend?

White Noise

Image taken from cashmereandivory.com

One of my favourite trends for S/S 14 is all white. The trend was adopted by many on the S/S 14 catwalk including Ralph Lauren, Sass and Bide, Emilio Pucci and Roberto Calvalli. The trend has now began to hit high street stores. I feel this look can be worn day or night nonetheless, the white combined with a lace on a hot summer’s day will deliver for the perfect look for sophisticated day wear.

My high street favourites from this trend are;

Even though the weather in England is not quite the type for sandals (or even short for that matter), once the sun is shinning I think all these pieces will look gorgeous.

Whats your favorite item from this 'all white' SS/14 trend?

The Amazing Spider Man 2

Image taken from whatleydude.com

Not a lot of people know this but I am a big fan of the marvel movies. What can I say, i'm a sucker for action adventure, comedy and romance all in cinema screening. This week I went to see The Amazing Spider Man starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. Now I’ve seen the Amazing Spiderman and I really enjoyed the new twist on the story line and I think Emma Stone is a great actor however, in this trilogy I felt it was a bit more ‘cheesy’ than the last one.

I think ‘comic book’ movies should have a small element of comically value as they are mostly targeted to an adult and child audience however, I think the balance between ‘comical’ and ‘serious’ is a little disjointed. Also there are various parts towards the film where you continuously feel like it is coming to an end which makes the film seem like it drags on a little bit (If you have watched the film, hopefully you will know what I’m talking about).

All in all, special effects are great but do not have the 'wow' factor. I would definitely give this a watch if you’re a marvels comic book fan, if not I’d maybe suggest something more action thrilling. My rating for this film is a 5 /10.

What are your views on the film?

Tumblr

I have had Tumblr for quite some time now but with all my time spend doing university work I lost interest. Recently, I got back into using Tumblr but now to support my university work. I have found that using Tumblr to search for imagery within my modules has been not only inspiring but has also help me to keep reference of images might like to use in my projects.

My Tumblr is a mixture of personal interest in photography, food, creative pictures and outfit posts. To take a look at the latest images I have posted on Tumblr, click the link below now.

Places to Visit | Brighton Beach

Now who doesn’t love a beach? Well when it’s warm anyway.  Recently took a day trip to Brighton beach whilst the sun at its best. Brighton has been voted one of the top 10 city beach break destinations in the UK. Brighton beach and pier is a great day trip for family or friends, there is plenty to do. Whether it’s lying on the beach, playing games on the pier or visiting the famous choccywoccydoodah you won’t be stuck for things to do!

Shoe Pick | Slider Sandals

Now who would have thought it, slider sandals the latest footwear trend for S/S 14. I think this shoe trend is a little like marmite, you rather love them or you hate them and I’m all for slider sandals. Feeling comfortable and looking stylish at the same time, pretty much a win win if you ask me!

Slider sandals have been seen in many S/S catwalk shows including Micheal Kors and Chloe along with this a number of celebrities have also been seen following the trend.  I think these sandals are so versatile perfect for the beach to slip on and off or a sunny day in England and there are also sliders available for those of you who want a bit of added height to your look.

What do you think of slider/footbed sandals, love or hate?
